The RIBZ front pack is made of 210d water resistant ripstop nylon. The Ribz front pack weighs approx. 11 oz. All components are water resistant and have proven durability in the most extreme of conditions. With a storage capacity of either 500 or 700 cubic inches, you can comfortably relocate your desired weight in the Ribz front packs.

The use of a Ribz front pack repositions a portion of your weight forward which reduces your overall shoulder stress and increases comfort, mobility, and balance. A front pack also creates the illusion of carrying a lighter load. Though the RIBZ front pack was designed with ultralight backpacking intentions, any outdoor activity where easy access of equipment is critical is where it proves beneficial. RIBZ front pack can be used alone as a vest but is primarily designed to work with your existing backpack as increased functionality.

Ribz Front Packs are ideal for photogrpahers, search and rescue, canoeists and anyone else on the move.

For anyone who saw the original models of the Ribz Front Pack, the changes made for this model, from the 2012 model really do make this an easy to use bit of kit.  If you want to see an enthusiastic review of the differences (not produced by us) then check out the video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IjadcVo9nQ   The 2013 pack actually reviewed has the same features as the 2014 model, but was before the switch to Small / Medium / Large / Extra Large sizing.

Hints and Tips

The RIBZ front pack was designed with many sports and activities in mind. Upon receipt of your RIBZ it is smart to first adjust the shoulder straps so they fit high above the waist line and low enough to fit comfortable under your arms. Basically fitted right around your ribcage. It is also a good idea to load your pack with the items for your activity before adjusting the back straps to desired fitting. RIBZ can be adjusted to fit snug for high intensity activities or loosely for when casual. For the serious ultralight backpacking enthusiast, try moving a few pounds off your back into your RIBZ for better weight distribution and comfort. For best results cleaning your RIBZ we recommend hand washing and air drying. RIBZ are capable of being machine washed on gentle cycle though this approach is not favored.

Front Packs

A front pack is a pack or bag that allows for access of equipment from the persons chest. Front packs first and foremost allow for easy access of gear without the removal of any equipment. In many adventure outdoor activities it can be critical to the sport to have the ability to reach essential gear fast without the removal of a backpack. Simplicity is the foremost purpose of the front pack but there are many additional benefits as well.

Weight distribution and balance is a key element in the utility of the front pack. Shifting weight forward in situations when carrying heavy loads can be critical to the comfort and balance of an individual. Backpacking is a sport where in many situations it is critical to both minimize or maximize the contents of your load for a longer or lighter duration of stay. The ability to move small amounts of weight to the frontal region significantly reduces overall stress on an persons shoulders and back. Moving a small amount of heavy equipment forward to a front pack can allow for an individual to either maximize or minimize the overall load contained in a backpack.

In all there are unlimited uses for the front pack. Front packs are the best compliment to any outdoorsman’s gear when accessibility, functionality, mobility and simplicity are required. From horseback riding, long distance biking, motorcycling and kayaking. All sports where fast and easy access of gear is essential, a front pack is your best solution.

For the serious backpacker certain tools and equipment are essential for the trip. A GPS, map, compass, cell phone, first aid kit, survival equipment and trail snacks are just a few. These items often need to be readily accessible or placed in a location that does not disrupt the contents of the backpackers load. A front pack allows consistent access to these items without the removal of travelers pack. Placing a small amount of equipment forward on the torso drastically improves overall balance, comfort and mobility.
